The divorce rate in Russia has been higher than any other country for the past several years. Here is a quick look at those rates over the past 23 years to get a better idea about the pattern of divorce in Russia since the breakup of the USSR. The highest rate was in 2002 when the rate was 5.9 divorces per 1000 population. The rates declined for several years then began to climb again in 2008 and seemingly leveling off around 5.0 divorces per 1000 population over the past four years.
